Cutting Edge

Hairdressing is an increasingly competitive arena to be part of, yet the right mix of talent, like minded staff and a fresh approach to hair, can bring dizzying success.
Daniel Pierpoint is one of London’s top hairdressers, and since opening his Soho salon in 2003, has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers. Elements such as surrounding himself with a fashion forward team and yet creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, have warranted him a winning combination and an enviable reputation in the industry.
‘Pierpoint is a groom of mine,’ declared Mayfair photographer S.C., ‘He was so impressed by my coverage of his wedding, that he commissioned me to create portraits of his Soho salon.’
For Pierpoint, training began under the legendary Michael Rasser of Michaeljohn. Not long after this period, he became the personal stylist to prominent individuals such as HRH Duchess of Kent. Pierpoint has worked with brands such as Gucci and Asprey, and partaken in senior styling for London Fashion Week and couture shows.
The fashionable furnishings of the Soho salon has a kind of Alice in Wonderland sort of surrealness to it, neon lights and a palm tree are just some of the quirks to be found amongst the décor.
Having harboured a secret desire for a number of years, during the shoot, S.C. developed a bit of scissor envy. Looking at Pierpoint’s mirrored reflection; S. C. was startled by more than just one or two striking similarities, particularly in the chinstache and barnet areas. Could this be S.C. in a parallel universe, or had he just fallen down a rabbit hole.
